Bondi Pavilion

Bondi Pavilion is a much loved community and arts facility set on the edge of Australia’s most famous beach and promenade. This landmark project involved the refurbishment of the heritage buildings originally completed in the 1930’s, along with upgrades and new facilities to ensure that the pavilion is equipped to continue its role as a celebrated community building.

There were features of a 1930’s Turkish Baths uncovered during the works that were preserved and the structural solutions included using precast concrete to limit site operations and minimise waste to reduce construction generated carbon.

New works also triggered the structural upgrade of failing masonry structures and arches which had fallen into disrepair with significant preservation works forming part of the structural design services in this highly corrosive and aggressive beachfront location. The pavilion is reopened to the public to again host music, theatre and arts festivals along with its daily operations as a focal point of Bondi Beach’s social and cultural life.
